Hair on vacation: A quick guide to summer hair care.

Are you already starting to think about what to do with your hair in the summer? The sun, wind, dust, salt water, and a different climate are a real test for hair. Dryness, brittleness, tangling - this is all that happens to the strands while we enjoy the sun. BUT! Don't worry! We have collected the simplest life hacks for summer care that work. They'll help keep your hair soft, naturally shiny, and healthy, even under the hot sun.

Hair care works best if you know your hair type. Here are 3 basic hair types - find yours.

1. Straight.

Straight hair is smooth and often shiny. It quickly becomes oily, especially at the roots, so it needs frequent washing, usually every 1-2 days. For care, you need lightweight volumizing products to prevent over-smoothing of the strands.

2. Wavy.

Wavy hair has S-shaped waves, from loose to more defined. It can be prone to frizz, especially in humid conditions. You need a balance of moisture and protein to maintain the so-called wavy pattern, so work on your diet. Leave-in conditioners are good for you. You may also need additional moisturizing for the ends, which may be drier than the roots. Often, such hair responds well to air drying, but only after the main moisture has been absorbed by a silk turban.

3. Curly.

Curly hair has a distinct curly hair pattern, from loose spirals to tight “corkscrews”. Usually, the strands are dry and prone to frizz, so they need deep moisturizing several times a week and regular deep conditioning treatments. This type of hair loves moisturizing shampoos without sulfates.

Note! To make your hair really shine in summer, it is important to know your hair type and needs. Everyone is different. And the best way to understand what is right for you is to consult a trichologist. He will determine your hair type and select the care that works for you.

Take care of yourself with love.

Summer dictates its own rules, and you're probably wondering why the sun has such a negative effect on your hair. Here is the short and simple answer.

The sun practically burns out the cuticles, depriving them of the natural oils necessary for moisture retention. In turn, the hair becomes dry and prone to absorbing moisture from the environment, and then this happens - frizz, unruly and tangles. And then, a lot of new split ends, decreased length and loss of a healthy appearance.

A reminder worth noticing! Moisturizing your hair starts from the inside, so maintain a water balance and take water with you wherever you go. Drinking water energizes both the hair and the entire body, awakening it and promoting growth. Dehydrated hair looks dull and brittle.

Recommendation of the Ministry of Health.

In the hot season, the body loses more fluid through sweating, so it is important to maintain proper hydration. According to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, adults should focus on consuming about 30-40 ml of water per kilogram of body weight per day. For example, for a person weighing 70 kg, this amounts to about 2.1-2.8 liters of water daily. On hot days or with increased physical activity, this rate should be increased by 20-30%.

    HAIR IN THE CITY.

items that your summer hair care routine should consist of:

    • Cleansing: Here, you should choose as light a shampoo as possible with a mild action that will intensively moisturize, soften and nourish the scalp. It can also be used frequently, as in summer, the hair and scalp become more polluted and oily. In addition, there is an additional factor - sweat.
    • Moisturizing and strengthening the hair structure with masks (twice a week) and conditioners (after every wash).
    • Protecting and restoring hair with hats and additional products (thermal protection, leave-in care, protection from salt and chlorinated water).
    • Nourish your hair from the inside out — drinking regimen, balanced diet (add cottage cheese, eggs, fish, chicken, fruits and berries, vegetables, dairy products, nuts, beans, flaxseed oil to your daily diet), vitamin and mineral complexes for hair (if necessary).

Examples of balanced meal plans from TheBodySchool.

    • Take care of your ends at the beginning of summer cut them a little. Clearing away dead ends prevents damage and breakage at the ends from spreading further down the hair shaft, and it can help reduce frizz and improve hair texture for a fuller, healthier look.

А healthy hair habit is to trim your ends every 6-8 weeks.

For all care products and vitamins, you should consult a trichologist to find the right products that will best support and work with your hair in the summer.

GATHERING YOUR COSMETICS: What do you need to have in the summer, even if you're not planning a vacation?

    1. Shampoo (according to scalp type), conditioner/leave-in, mask — according to length. For good cleansing, for deep moisturizing, for smoothing cuticles.
    2. A spray for easier combing is a must-have for the summer. This way you will damage fewer hairs during combing and they will be much less tangled.
    3. Silk turban — it takes up very little space, dries quickly, but it will be what your hair needs after washing. Every day. Regularly. To smooth the cuticles and absorb moisture evenly from root to tip.

    4. Silk elastic bands — in summer, it is better to braid your hair (during walks, work and at night) to minimize the effects of sunlight and mechanical damage.

    HAIR ON VACATION.

5 easy tips for taking care of your hair while on vacation.

A beautiful hairstyle is not an accident, but the result of a good plan. Here are a few life hacks that will help you take care of your hair in the mountains, at sea or in the city on a tour:

    1. Сhoose travel formats.

Choose these formats of your favorite products to save space in your suitcase for your hair dryer, silk turban and silk pillowcase (they take up very, very little space).

    2. Shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in with thermal protection are a must-have for traveling.

    3. The climate dictates the conditions. Going to the sea? Take something against frizz and be sure to have a leave-in conditioner that can be applied to wet hair after swimming in the sea. Flying to the desert or going to the mountains? Take a deep moisturizer for the ends. They will help your hair adapt to high temperatures, humidity, wind, and chlorinated pool water.

How do I protect my hair from chlorine in the pool?

Before swimming, wet your hair with clean water and apply leave-in to create a protective barrier. After swimming, be sure to wash your hair with a shampoo that neutralizes chlorine, and then use a moisturizing mask to restore it. However, the best option to avoid damaging your hair is a swimming cap.

    4. Thermal protection is like sun protection, only for hair.

If you plan to style your hair with a hair dryer or styler, don't forget about thermal protection.

    5. Replace silicone hair bands with silk hair bands.

Natural hair bands do not put pressure on the strands, do not injure the ends, and gently hold the hair in a braid, ponytail or any other hairstyle. Also, don't forget about a hat or cap - your scalp must be protected, because the quality and health of your hair depends on the condition of your scalp.

The sun does not harm those who know how to protect their hair.

If your friend asks you for summer care tips, send her this:

    1. Sun protection — wear a hat, cap, panama hat and use thermal protection.
    2. Minimal styling — more natural texture.
    3. Moisturizing — conditioner/leave-in after every wash, mask 1-2 times a week.
    4. Cleanliness is above all, so wash your hair whenever you need to to wash away all dust and dirt from the scalp.
    5. Use more lightweight products — avoid dense oils and heavy silicones to avoid overloading your hair.
    6. Be sure to wrap your hair in the only silk turban every time you wash it. It absorbs moisture evenly, does not weigh down the hair, helps smooth the cuticle and does not damage the length — this advice works not only in summer, but 365 days a year.
    7. If you want to see smooth and shiny hair in the morning that doesn't look tired and tangled after the night, then replace your regular pillowcase with a silk one. It is natural, durable, hypoallergenic and antibacterial. And it is suitable for all hair types.

The Silk Turban is a beauty gadget for wet hair that will help prolong the youthfulness of your hair and maintain its healthy length.

When summer is at its best, sleep for your hair is a priority.

    1. Your hair gets tired too.

Sleep is not just a rest for the brain and body, but also a time when hair is actively regenerating, because growth hormone is activated at night. It is during deep sleep that the body produces hormones that stimulate hair growth.

    2. Silk is your nighttime savior.

A Silk pillowcase minimizes the appearance of split ends, enhances the natural shine of hair and promotes smoothness. Unlike cotton, silk retains moisture in the hair rather than absorbing it.

    3. Sleep with a light braid or low ponytail.

Silk elastics hold your hair securely, do not leave creases, and do not create unnecessary friction and stress on the ends. In the summer, when hair is drier and weaker, this is a must for your hairstyle.

    4. A mask is not just for the face.

The Silk Sleep Mask not only helps you fall asleep. It provides complete darkness, promotes melatonin production, and enhances sleep quality. And good sleep means healthy hormones that affect hair growth.

    5. Less friction for healthy length.

In summer, hair is already exposed to UV stress. Reducing nighttime friction is your step to healthy length and smoother ends without additional products. Therefore, revisit the 2nd and 3rd rules once again.

Summer diet: 8 foods that your body, skin and hair love.

    2. Cucumbers - natural moisturizing, maintaining water balance.
    3. Tomatoes — protection of skin and hair from UV rays due to lycopene.
    4. Greens (arugula, spinach, dill) — a source of iron and vitamins for hair growth.
    5. Peaches and apricots — beta-carotene for radiant skin and soft hair.
    6. Kefir or yogurt — protein and probiotics that support digestion and beauty from the inside out.
    7. Eggs are a source of protein and biotin, two nutrients essential for hair growth.
    8. Flax and chia seeds are omega-3s that nourish the scalp and make hair supple.
