What Do OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and GOTS Certifications Mean?
We have already explained why we chose 100% Mulberry Silk and BlueSoft™ Microfiber for our products. But choosing the right material is only half the story. It was not enough for us to choose 100% Mulberry Silk with the right density and quality. We also wanted to know how it is made and what goes into its production.
That is why the manufacturer we work with holds international GOTS and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certifications.
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 — Tested for Harmful Substances
The certification covers, among other things, 100% silk fabrics, as well as reactive dyeing and finishing processes.
Most importantly, the fabrics are certified under Product Class I — the strictest class of STANDARD 100, with requirements designed even for textiles intended for babies.
This means that the components of certified textiles are tested for regulated and other potentially harmful substances in accordance with OEKO-TEX criteria.
GOTS — Control of Materials and Production
The manufacturer is also certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), Version 7.0.
The certification covers not only the materials themselves, but also a range of production processes, including dyeing, finishing, knitting, manufacturing, trading, washing, and textile processing.
